Amazon Fashion Week Tokyo: ACUOD by CHANU

Amazon Fashion Week Tokyo: ACUOD by CHANU
Last week, Sam and I had the opportunity to attend Amazon Fashion Week Tokyo. Luckily, our new friend Shui, a photographer based in Tokyo, was available to come with and take the lovely photos you see in this post.

Out of all the shows we've seen, ACUOD by CHANU definitely caught our attention last year and managed to do the exact same this time around. The show began with a powerful hip hop dance performance set to a heart-stopping beat.

In a great show of representation, the first model to walk out was Nesmith, biracial singer/dancer of EXILE, wearing a heavily-zippered silver coat. As the models continued to come out, we noticed the newspaper strips in their hair. The strips focused on international violence, economic changes, immigration, and other significant current events. If Chanu's intent was to make a statement, then he definitely came to win. Between the political statements, racial representation, and downright fabulous clothes, Chanu won a special place in our hearts.

In this stunning model's hair, you can see an article about violence. Zoom in on the photos below and tell us what you see in the comments! :)

Lemonade

Lemonade

[BRIEF POST] Stopped by this unique lemonade shop in Shibuya after a long and exciting day at Amazon Fashion Week Tokyo. I'm not a big fan of lemonade, but the swing set attached to the shop was too hard to resist. Lemonade and Lemonica is the perfect place for a short photo shoot and a refreshing drink. If you're ever in the Shibuya area, check out this great store before the lines get too long.

If You're Reading This... I Cut My Hair

If You're Reading This... I Cut My Hair
A little over seven years ago, I started my natural hair journey and here I am now starting it all over again. It's so bizarre! If you asked me a month ago, "Hey, Sade would you be willing to cut off almost all of your hair?" I would say that you were crazy for even asking. But now, I just can't believe it took me so long. I mean, don't get me wrong, the first week was beyond difficult. I cried everyday and consistently told myself that people were staring at me (I'm a gaijin so this may have actually been the case). But, why did I even care? I spent three hours every week washing, detangling, and twisting my hair! I can do all of that (minus the twists) in less than thirty minutes now. So, if you're contemplating cutting your hair and your only concern is what other people are going to think of you. Let it go~! Let it go~!
Pictured above and below, are the lights from the Mitama Festival at Yasukuni Shrine. Let me tell you, walking into this festival was a magical experience and it happens every year.
Over 300,000 lamps were hung just for this festival alone. So, the festival grounds can get very crowded, very fast. If you're planning on going next year, arrive at least an hour early!

Golden Week Vacay 2018: Osaka Castle + Capsule Hotel

Golden Week Vacay 2018: Osaka Castle + Capsule Hotel
After a short flight, we landed in Kansai International Airport and made our way over to our favorite hotel in the area. Hotel Vertex Osaka, situated in the center of Shinsekai and right next to Spa World, is a truly convenient gem. Unfortunately, we were only able to book the hotel for one night seeing as it was fully booked for the rest of the week. So, the next day we dropped our luggage off at Y's Cabin Capsule Hotel and made our way over to Osaka Castle.
The trek up to Osaka Castle would've been an arduous one had we not come across the Castle Park Tram. This cool road train helped us get up and down the park in no time. Due to time restraints, we were only able to stop by the castle and Cafe Gram. However, we highly recommend that you check out the other attractions throughout the park.
At the end of the day, we officially checked into Y's Cabin Osaka Namba. It was our first time experiencing a capsule hotel and maybe our last. Don't get us wrong the capsules and facilities were amazing; however, privacy is definitely something worth paying for.  But, if you only plan on spending one night in Osaka... go for it!

Golden Week Vacay 2018: Ocean Expo Park

Golden Week Vacay 2018: Ocean Expo Park
On our last full day in Okinawa, we made our way up to Churaumi Aquarium/ Ocean Expo Park. From Naha City, it took us a little over two hours to get there by bus. After arriving, we went straight over to the aquarium... which was a bit too crowded to enjoy. So, after a quick walk through we moved on to the Tropical Dream Center, where we spent most of our time. While there, we saw beautiful garden arrangements and surprisingly more fish!
