If You're Reading This... I Cut My Hair
A little over seven years ago, I started my natural hair journey and here I am now starting it all over again. It's so bizarre! If you asked me a month ago, "Hey, Sade would you be willing to cut off almost all of your hair?" I would say that you were crazy for even asking. But now, I just can't believe it took me so long. I mean, don't get wrong, the first week was beyond difficult. I cried everyday and consistently told myself that people were staring at me (I'm a gaijin so this may have actually been the case). But, why did I even care? I spent three hours every week washing, detangling, and twisting my hair! I can do all of that (minus the twists) in less than thirty minutes now. So, if you're contemplating cutting your hair and your only concern is what other people are going to think of you. Let it go~! Let it go~!
Pictured above and below, are the lights from the Mitama Festival at Yasukuni Shrine. Let me tell you, walking into this festival was a magical experience and it happens every year.
Over 300,000 lamps were hung just for this festival alone. So, the festival grounds can get very crowded, very fast. If you're planning on going next year, arrive at least an hour early!

Golden Week Vacay 2018: Osaka Castle + Capsule Hotel
After a short flight, we landed in Kansai International Airport and made our way over to our favorite hotel in the area. Hotel Vertex Osaka, situated in the center of Shinsekai and right next to Spa World, is a truly convenient gem. Unfortunately, we were only able to book the hotel for one night seeing as it was fully booked for the rest of the week. So, the next day we dropped our luggage off at Y's Cabin Capsule Hotel and made our way over to Osaka Castle.
The trek up to Osaka Castle would've been an arduous one had we not come across the Castle Park Tram. This cool road train helped us get up and down the park in no time. Due to time restraints, we were only able to stop by the castle and Cafe Gram. However, we highly recommend that you check out the other attractions throughout the park.
After a long day, we officially checked into Y's Cabin Osaka Namba. It was our first time experiencing a capsule hotel and maybe our last. Don't get us wrong the capsules and facilities were amazing; however, privacy is definitely something worth paying for.  But, if you only plan on spending one night in Osaka... go for it!

Golden Week Vacay 2018: Ocean Expo Park
On our last full day in Okinawa, we made our way up to Churaumi Aquarium/ Ocean Expo Park. From Naha City, it took us a little over two hours to get there by bus. After arriving, we went straight over to the aquarium... which was a bit too crowded to enjoy. So, after a quick walk through we moved on to the Tropical Dream Center, where we spent most of our time. While there, we saw beautiful garden arrangements and surprisingly more fish!

Golden Week Vacay 2018: Fukushuen Garden

Golden Week Vacay 2018: Fukushuen Garden
Last minute decisions can lead to amazing experiences and walking into the Fukushuen Garden was one of them. Even before entering, we could hear the rush of water and birds chirping. In contrast to the lively streets of Naha City, Fukushuen was calm and serene. As we explored, we noticed people reading books and relaxing on the benches scattered about the area. It seemed like a place where the locals went to take a break from their busy lives and breathe easy.
The thing we loved most about spending time in Okinawa was getting to know what life was like for the people that lived there. If you plan on coming to Japan, please set aside some time to visit Okinawa. You'll find that the history and lifestyle there is very different from mainland Japan.

Golden Week Vacay 2018: Okinawa World

While in Okinawa, we had the chance to check out a couple of places in our first 2 days there. Some of the places we went to included Naha Kokusai Dori, Okinawa Prefectural/Art Museum, Shurijo Castle, and Okinawa World. Below we've included some pictures from the famous Gyoku Sendo Cave in Okinawa World.

Upon first entering the cave we began to worry about what exactly we'd gotten ourselves into and honestly we were pretty scared. Everything seemed so surreal, because it was our first time seeing something like it in person. Now, if you're someone that struggles with claustrophobia, I'd recommend that you avoid this place at all costs. However, if you're okay with small enclosed spaces you'll love it here! Walking around the cave we saw so many beautiful rock formations and gained a newfound appreciation for Earth's natural resources. So, if you're ever in Okinawa, please do not pass up this wonderful place!

Golden Week Outfit Post
Is it crazy that this is our first trip since last Summer? No? Just us? Okay :) Well, luckily in Japan there is a holiday week known as Golden Week. During this time most people go on vacation with their families and almost all of Tokyo becomes a ghost town. So, what do you do when you're a 'gaijin' (foreigner) and your family doesn't live in Japan? You go on an amazing trip instead! Our destinations included Okinawa, Osaka, and Nara. While in Okinawa we stayed at the amazing Hotel Pesquera and they were very accommodating even though we arrived way after check-in. We definitely recommend that you check them out if you're planning a trip to Okinawa. So, want to know more about our trip? Keep an eye out for our next post.

Amazon Fashion Week Tokyo 2018
As you can tell from the title... we went to Amazon Fashion Week Tokyo! Our time there was relatively short due to scheduling conflicts; however, we were able to see one show from start to finish. The show we saw was by a designer named Patrick Owen and his designs left a lasting impression on us. Many of the outfits gave off a post-modern vibe due to their vibrant color-blocking and sharp angles. There was a specific outfit in particular (pictured below) that really caught our attention; it was a sparkling tweed hooded coat with an over-sized yellow backpack. The funny thing is, we both mentioned this outfit immediately after the show! Anyway, check out the pics below and let us know what you think. Also, please let us know about your Fashion Week experiences in the comments below!

Starting Anew

Hey Guys,

So I'm slowly starting to get used to taking photos in public. As a kid, I had many opportunities to model in front of people, but somewhere along the way I started to become more self-conscious. Thinking about it now, growing up, we all start to overthink and worry about how other people view us. But, I want to use this time to stop worrying so much and live my life freely. Look forward to more confident and exciting photos soon!

Has anyone else experienced this? Let us know your experience and how you got over it in the comments!

Sour Patch Kid
Reconnecting with my high school self in this edgy outfit I put together. I'm not sure if you know this, but I went through an emo/goth phase back in high school (skateboard included). Honestly, as
embarrassing as it is for me to look at my old pictures...I'll never regret that phase. It taught me to dress how I wanted, without caring about what everyone else thought and I kind of miss it (not the clothes, but the mindset). Every time I get ready to go outside in Tokyo, I think to myself "Is this okay to wear?". It's a terrible habit I picked up after moving here and I'm working on breaking back out of it. Has anyone else experienced this while living abroad or in your home country?
